The classical design of this project is a marriage of fashion-forward style and architecture elements that will last for decades. Ionic columns, leaded glass windows and traditional trim work with Greek adornments come face-to-face with bold contrasting color schemes and modern furnishings for a dramatic yet elegant home full of Southern charm.
The client requested a gracious and welcoming home; an immediate sense of wow; refined elegance, Southern charm and classical details; focus on lake view; high contrasts of color; ample lighting; combination of stained and painted millwork; and a tailored style that includes drama, tranquility, comfort and luxury.
The challenge was to create a design that was as outstanding and unique as possible, while maintaining the function, comfort and flow desired by the client. The end result features an exterior/summer kitchen with English and French architecture; a grand foyer with a winding staircase and handrail carved from a single piece of wood, leaded glass, and contrasting black and cream details; carved stone ionic columns in the study, living and dining rooms; antique mirror and silver leafing in the powder room; bold colors with soft fabrics and curved furniture lines in the master bedroom; a master bath with earth tones and textures; open kitchen and family room with comfort, stained woods and warm colors; a daughter’s suite with Hollywood glamour; carved Enkeboll panels in the English-style pub; and purple and gold monogram details on the custom doors, carpets and walls in the theater.
