Who started your company? I did.

When and how did you choose this career? During high school, I worked with my uncle in his cabinet shop.

What did you do before becoming a remodeler? I completed high school, trade school and an apprenticeship to become a journeyman carpenter/cabinetmaker.

As you were growing up, what did you want to be? A good husband and dad—a provider for the family.

How has the remodeling profession changed since you’ve been involved? It used to take a handshake to do work. Now it takes reams of pages of contracts, government regulations, a good lawyer and accountant, and a strong family.

What are a few of the most unusual projects your company has completed? A church, U.S. Secret Service office, Coast Guard station/lighthouse and an armory.

What is your favorite item in your office? A family picture.

What is the best advice you received in your career? Work hard, be honest and receive fair compensation for your work.

What would you like to bring to QR’s advisory board? My more than 51 years of experience in the profession in very broad, diversified projects.

What are you professional affiliations? I am a member of Milwaukee NARI board of directors and National NARI board of directors.

Please mention any awards your business has attained or any community involvement you have. I have been a member of the Franklin Lions since 1970 and served as president, vice president and chairman. I am a member of Vocational Planning, Franklin School District and chief instructor for the Department of Natural Resources’ Hunter Safety Courses in
Franklin. I have promoted the carpentry trade through Franklin High School by donating tools to the outstanding construction skills student. I am a past 4-H leader for construction skills.

What motivates you every day? My family, community and faith.
