Number of employees: 9
Q: What makes you NAHB Remodeler of
A: Commitment to customer satisfaction. My team strives to be the most professional and respected home remodeler in the area. We treat our clients, employees and trade contractors like we want to be treated. We always aim to be a step above what most people think of home remodelers and, in turn, hope our professionalism is an example to others.
Q: What is your best business practice?
A: It’s our design and estimating department’s campaign called “See it, before you buy it.” Through software, we show our clients exactly what their project will look like in virtual 3-D before they commit. It helps clients make decisions and helps us create the final project.
Q: What have you done to grow the business?
A: Creating business-management systems has clearly been the key to our success, especially during the downturn in the economy. Our company is an ever-changing business where we’ve learned to be efficient and adapt. Creating systems has helped us come up with a more predictable result and more satisfied customers.
Q: What does being part of NAHB mean to you?
A: Fulford Construction Inc. has been involved with the HBA since 1978; it’s probably one of the largest reasons we are where we are. I attend educational seminars almost every year through the Remodeling Show and come back with at least one or two ideas we can implement to make our business better.
Q: What is your favorite item in your office?
A: It’s our conference room where we showcase our projects. We believe pictures tell the story, so we create boards from different projects showing before, during and after pictures. When clients come in, they can look at the pictures and dream of possibilities.
Q: What motivates you every day?
A: I want our clients to be happy. Building a new home is one thing but it’s another to work with someone who has lived with the same kitchen for 30 years. It makes it all worthwhile to see the smiles on their faces when you turn their dreams into reality. This, in turn, also helps the business because 72 percent of our remodeling business comes from repeat and referral customers.
