- Designer Jan Neiges, CKD of Centennial, CO-based The Kitchen & Bath Studio, took a small, dark kitchen that was interrupting traffic flow to the rest of the home and turned it into this 276-sq.-ft. kitchen.
Major renovations were involved; the kitchen and dining room were swapped, a pantry closet was created and a bedroom door was moved. The designer took down walls and created new ones; she also appropriated porch space into the kitchen to avoid a “shoebox” feel to the long, narrow room.
- Several new additions add function and flow to the space, including a new eating peninsula, a countertop for pet feeding and storage of supplies and a sleek central island, which the homeowners requested.
- Neiges based all of her color selections in the space on the lively shade of Firenze granite that the clients selected. Cabinetry throughout is DeWils in the Kinsberry door style; the island cabinetry features a grape stain.
- Appliances include a cooktop from GE and a refrigerator, trash compactor and microwave from KitchenAid.
