Memorial Scholarship Created by DPHA Fellows

Bethesda, MD — The Decorative Plumbing & Hardware Association (DPHA) Council of Fellows has created a memorial scholarship that will provide a significant monetary award to further the college or post-graduate education of a child or grandchild of any individual that works at a DPHA-member firm.

According to the DPHA, headquartered in Bethesda, MD, the newly created DPHA Council of Fellows Memorial Scholarship was created not only to provide an educational grant to a worthy recipient, but to honor the memory and career contributions of deceased industry leaders whose efforts were responsible for the development and advancement of the decorative plumbing and hardware industry.

The DPHA added that the program’s initial honoree is Rod Denhart, who was associated with Artistic Brass, Auburn Brass and Legacy Brass during his more than 40-year career in the decorative plumbing and hardware industry. Denhart was honored by his peers in 2005 when he was named a Fellow of DPHA.

“Ron Denhart, along with Hank Darlington, Charlie Goldberg, Glenn Rider and Phil Brill, among several others, determined that there was a need for the decorative plumbing and hardware industry to have its own identity,” said Council of Fellows chairman Jack Fase, of Alno Inc.

“Their foresight led to creation of DPHA and its establishment as the largest decorative plumbing and hardware association in the world.”

The Rod Denhart Memorial Scholarship will be presented at the Oct. 15-18, 2009 DPHA Conference in Colorado Springs, CO, the trade associaiton said.

The 500-member DPHA added that it is funding an endowment through member contributions and from the proceeds from an auction that will be conducted at the 2008 DPHA Conference this month in Phoenix, AZ.

The DPHA Council of Fellows is comprised of Jeff Burton (The Bath & Beyond, San Francisco, CA), Hank Darlington (Darlington Consulting, Gold River, CA), Walter Diamond (Snyder Diamond, Santa Monica, CA), Jack Fase (Alno Inc., Sylmar, CA), Marilyn Hermance (Westheimer Plumbing & Hardware, Houston, TX) and Faye Norton (Designer Hardware by Faye, Oklahoma City, OK).
