This powder room addition was part of a larger whole house remodel project. The original single story home, located in a beach community, had only one bath prior to the remodel. This powder room was added on the first level as the main bathroom with a secondary bathroom being moved to the new second level. All of the bathrooms in the home were designed to reflect clean contemporary lines with a Zen influence.
The powder room utilizes bamboo stalks as a wall covering. This bathroom uses stainless steel and espresso wood finishes and a river rock floor element. The selection of green as a wall color completes the naturalistic ambiance.
Neatly hidden behind bamboo closet doors are the family’s laundry facilities, exemplifying the design goal of maximizing the use of all available space.
The judges felt this project was a great transformation that was nicely detailed.
