The objective of this detached structure was to convert a late 1980s all cinder block and brick structure into an English Countryside style building. The homeowners wanted to create usage of this structure as an entertainment building for guests and friends. They also wanted to stay as historically accurate as possible on the budget given and install all natural exterior products. Finally, they wanted the exterior to appear as if aged by time to create a historic replica.
A lot of the items on this project were custom fabricated to achieve a true “One of a Kind” building. The architecture and design were the primary challenges because not only did the team need to conform the structure to fit a historical time period, but they also needed to accent the primary structure’s architecture. This had to all be done while creating an accessory structure that conformed to all modern codes and at the same time emulate the historical time period.
Landscape design was done so that it would downplay the scale of the building. The main reason of the homeowners to even transform this existing structure into a Countryside Tudor revival building was to accent the Tudor Manor home being built. This meant designing and implementing a steam bent cedar shake roof to mimic the traditional thatched roofs of that time period.
Fabricated interior millworks create an inviting worn feeling while large granite boulder retaining walls were created outside to alter grade to flow around structure as if it was original.
