Wellborn Cabinet Acquires VA Manufacturing Sites

Ashland, AL — Wellborn Cabinet has acquired a pair of manufacturing sites in Virginia, and will convert the former furniture plants into a cabinet parts manufacturing operation, the company announced.

According to the Ashland, AL-based Wellborn, the two former facilities are located in Smyth County, Virginia, and were formerly owned by furniture manufacturer Vaughn-Bassett.

Wellborn said it will invest $3 million in converting the facilities, which will ultimately supply wood strips and cabinet dimension parts to the company’s manufacturing plants in Alabama, Pennsylvania and Utah.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with county, local and Wellborn officials to secure the project, which will enable the unemployed workforce from the formerly-closed plants to regain jobs, according to Wellborn officials.
