Expanded Research Center Set for Opening by NAHB

Orlando, FL — Construction of an expanded Research Center, aimed at serving as a product testing laboratory and market research facility, is expected to be completed this spring by the National Association of Home Builders, the trade association announced last month.

The Washington, DC-based NAHB announced at last month’s home builders (IBS) show that the 42,000-sq.-ft. center, located in Upper Marlboro, MD, will triple the size of the association’s existing facility, “greatly enhancing the services” provided to product manufacturers, builders, private-sector clients and the public.

“There is currently a wide array of obstacles to moving new products into the housing market -- a situation [we are] working to improve with quality assurance testing, code conformity, market research and technology development,” NAHB officials said.

The center, those officials added, is "essential to developing new products, producing higher-quality homes and ultimately improving the quality of life for homebuyers.”
