Whirlpool Corp. has received a new government award for protecting the nation’s environment through energy efficiency, the company announced.
The appliance manufacturer, based here, received the inaugural “Energy Star Sustained Excellence 2006 Award” from the U.S. Dept. of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, according to the company.
The award honors organizations that have “exhibited outstanding environmental leadership year after year, while sustaining product and marketing excellence.”
Whirlpool Corp., which also manufactures the KitchenAid brand of appliances, was honored for its “leadership in designing, manufacturing and marketing resource-efficient” major home appliances.
