CHARLOTTE, NC — A series of three unique, all-day seminars aimed at providing kitchen and bath dealers with successful business management, financial and merchandising strategies will kick off next month in Charlotte under the terms of an exclusive educational alliance between Kitchen & Bath Design News and the SEN Design Group.
The 2006 alliance, announced last fall, features an all-day educational program – entitled “Managing for Maximum Profit” – which will spotlight sound management strategies and business tools aimed at improving the financial performance of kitchen and bath retail firms.
The first in the “Managing for Maximum Profit” seminar series will take place Friday, Feb. 17 at the Holiday Inn City Center in Charlotte.
Subsequent programs are scheduled for Friday, June 9, in the New York metropolitan area, and Friday, Nov. 3, in the San Francisco area. Specific locations for those sessions will be announced in the near future.
“These programs, we feel, will address the pressing need in the kitchen and bath industry for in-depth education aimed specifically at assisting kitchen and bath retail firms in increasing their company’s profits – as well as their own personal income,” said KBDN editorial director and publisher Eliot Sefrin. “They will focus on information that’s critical for independent kitchen/bath dealers to remain viable and competitive in this fast-changing industry,” Sefrin added.
“The kitchen and bath industry has gone too long without a meaningful business management educational program,” commented Ken Peterson, CKD, president of the Chapel Hill, NC-based SEN Design Group.
“Through this program, kitchen and bath dealers will be able to gain access to the critical financial and management information that will unlock so many secrets to making serious money in this business.”
The sessions will be led by Peterson and Tom Blau, v.p./education for SEN. Topics will include factors in maximizing business owner income and profit; management tools that preserve pre-planned gross margins; ways to create accurate and reliable financial statements, guaranteeing an appropriate return on investment, and more. In addition, each seminar will include a two-hour, post-event reception at the showroom of a leading local kitchen and bath dealer.
The Feb. 17 reception will take place at DCI Home Resource, in Charlotte. The June 9 reception will take place at Modern Millwork, in Belleville, NJ. The Nov. 3 reception will take place at Gilman Screens & Kitchens, in Burlingame, CA.
Corporate sponsors of the 2006 SEN/KBDN program include Rohl LLC, Holiday Kitchens, Whirlpool/KitchenAid, CaesarStone and Task Lighting, which will conduct a special program on lighting in conjunction with each seminar (see related story, below).
Additional corporate sponsors are expected to be named in the near future, according to Sefrin and Peterson. The discounted rate for the room block in connection with the Feb. 17 seminar is $109 per night. Registrants must call the hotel prior to Jan. 17 to secure a room at that rate. The deadline for registration is February 9, 2006.
