Swan Adds Capacity to Illinois Facility

ST. LOUIS - The installation of two 1,500-ton compression-molding presses at The Swan Corporation's Centralia, IL plant will significantly increase manufacturing capacity for Swan's large-sheet "Swanstone" solid surface products, the company announced.

The presses, according to the St. Louis-based Swan Corp., are part of a 9,000-sq.-ft., five-story-tall expansion that will eventually house up to five state-of-the-art molding machines.

"Demand for our large-size products is at an all-time high," said Mike Benton, v.p./manufacturing. "Our molding operations have been running three shifts, 24 hours a day, five to six days per week, to manufacture Swanstone shower walls and floors, countertops, decorative wall panels and wainscoting.

"This plant expansion will benefit our valued dealers and distributors by increasing the percentage of orders we can ship under seven days," Benton noted.

In the last three years The Swan Corp. has increased by 77% the number of products shipped under seven days from the time the plant gets an order, according to the company.
