BENTON HARBOR, MI - The Whirlpool Corp., already one of the largest corporate sponsors of the Habitat for Humanity program, is expanding its support of the home-building effort, the company announced.
The Benton Harbor, MI-based Whirlpool Corp. has donated a refrigerator and range to every Habitat home built in North America since 1999, according to the company, which said it is expanding its support of three major Habitat programs this year. Furthermore, Whirlpool Corp. has pledged to provide either appliance donation support, house sponsorship or financial support for every Habitat home built around the world by 2011.
"Whirlpool is committed to Habitat's mission of providing families with affordable, adequate shelter," said company spokesman Jeff Terry, adding that the partnership is the single largest philanthropic program in Whirlpool's nearly 100-year history.
"The families who live in Habitat homes, the Whirlpool employees who volunteer, and all of the people touched by Habitat around the world are at the heart of this partnership," he concluded.
