Medallion To Open Indiana Factory

Waconia, MN - Medallion Cabinetry Inc. will open a new manufacturing plant in Culver, IN prior to the end of this year, the semi-custom cabinet manufacturer announced.

The 275,000-sq.-ft. facility, according to company officials, will produce the entire spectrum of Medallion products, primarily for distribution to the East Coast and Southeast portion of the country.

The plant is expected to employ up to 330 people in the first three years of operation, the company noted.

"The Culver facility marks a significant expansion for Medallion, allowing us to continue to expand capacity, increase shipping efficiencies and exceed the expectations of the kitchen, bath and home remodeling industries," according to Tom Cook, Medallion's executive v.p. and general manager.

"This is an important economic win for Culver and Indiana, and we hope this is a trend other companies will follow," said Patricia Miller, secretary of commerce and chief executive of the Indiana Economic Development Corp. "Medallion Cabinetry is a prime example of the type of company the state is dedicated to bringing to Indiana," Miller added.

Medallion, headquartered in Waconia, MN, currently employs more than 1,000 people, and operates manufacturing and wood finishing facilities in Waconia, Shakopee and New Ulm, MN, as well as in Independence, OR. The company's products are distributed nationwide through kitchen and bath dealers, as well as through selected home centers. Medallion is a wholly owned subsidiary of Elkay Manufacturing Company of Oak Brook, IL. The Elkay Cabinetry Group includes Medallion, its largest unit, as well as Yorktowne Cabinetry and Mastercraft Cabinetry.
