K/BIS Seeks 'Full House' in Vegas

The 2005 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) ups the ante as it settles into Las Vegas for the very first time.

Other Events & Meetings
Several noteworthy meetings, breakfasts and special events will also be sprinkled before and during this year's K/BIS.

One of the new highlights will be the NextGen Design Idea Home, presented by NKBA, which will showcase the most current trends in whole-house design with a special focus in the kitchen and bath areas. It will feature a contemporary floorplan showcasing advanced electronics, products and design ideas.

Another attraction will be this year's Design Idea Center, NKBA's annual signature event of design and function (see related story, Page 118). This year, the editors of Woman's Day Specials and Canac kitchen designers will present "Ultimate Amenities," inspired by Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and Food Network chefs Rachael Ray and Tyler Florence. They have created the plans for two kitchens and a luxury bath all contained within a single, flow-through space.
The NKBA Board of Directors' Gala is scheduled to take place May 9 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. There, the winners of the 41st annual NKBA Design Competition will be announced, and induction of the newest members of the Kitchen and Bath Industry Hall of Fame will take place.

Traditional-Style Range Hood
ABBAKA (Booth 2873) has unveiled the Classic, a traditionally styled range hood designed, according to the company, to emulate the black canopies used to vent old wood-burning stoves. Standing ribs are replaced by a fusion weld that forms the hood without creating visible joints, while bands have been added to the face of the hood to emphasize its contour. These bands have been attached from the hood's interior using a proprietary process. Round-head solid rivets of brass, copper or steel may be added as decorative elements.
