Broan-NKBA Competition Open

Hartford, WI Broan-NuTone and the National Kitchen and Bath Association have teamed up for the second year to sponsor "The Best Kitchen Design Competition," which has a deadline of Dec. 31, 2004 for competition submissions.

According to Clement Feng, v.p./marketing for the Hartford, WI-based Broan-NuTone, a total of $40,000 in cash, scholarships and travel will be awarded to professional kitchen designers and student kitchen designers who incorporate proper kitchen ventilation into their designs, utilizing the Best by Broan kitchen ventilation product line. Grand-prize winners will be announced, and their winning designs unveiled, at the 2005 K/BIS in Las Vegas, May 9-11, 2005.

Kitchen designers, NKBA professional members, student designers or NKBA student members enrolled in accredited colleges or universities in the U.S. and Canada are eligible to enter the competition.

Professional designer entrants must have installed a Best by Broan kitchen ventilation product into either a new construction or remodeled kitchen between Jan. 1, 2003 and Nov. 30, 2004. Student entrants must submit a kitchen design that incorporates a Best by Broan product.

The competition includes three categories:

  • Category 1 Best by Broan Wall Mounted Ventilation.
  • Category 2 Best by Broan Island /Peninsula Ventilation.
  • Category 3 Best by Broan Custom Design Hood incorporating a Best by Broan kitchen ventilation product.

Judging will include representatives from NKBA, Broan-NuTone and leading Certified Kitchen Designers. The criteria for the competition evaluation and judging will include: visual appeal, creatively incorporating Best by Broan kitchen ventilation products, elements and principles of design, and ventilation principles.

First-, second- and third-place winners will be selected in each category. First-place winners receive $1,000 in cash and a trip to 2005 K/BIS; second-place winners receive $500 in cash; third-place winners receive $250 in cash.

A Grand Prize Professional and Grand Prize Student will be selected from the first place winners, according to the firm. The Grand Prize Professional wins airfare and hotel accommodations for two to Rome; the Grand Prize Student wins a $10,000 scholarship from Broan-NuTone and the NKBA.
