Quartet Honored With Induction Into Hall of Fame
Chicago Four individuals who were instrumental in the growth and development of the kitchen and bath industry have been inducted into the National Kitchen & Bath Association Hall of Fame.
The four including Kitchen & Bath Design News columnist Hank Darlington were inducted into the Hall of Fame last month during the annual NKBA Board of Directors Gala, which kicked off the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) in Chicago.
The inductions bring to 68 the number of people who have received the Hall of Fame honor.
This year's inductees included the following individuals:
-
Tony and Michael Joseph: The owners of the Diamond Bar, CA-based appliance manufacturer DACOR were instrumental in the development of innovative high-end cooking appliances, and in positioning those products as a critical component of the modern kitchen.
-
Dr. Phyllis Markussen, CKE, CBE: Dr. Markussen became the first NKBA-certified Kitchen and Bath Educator (CKE, CBE) in 1995. She has been the key to the growth of the NKBA Endorsed College Program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Many of her former students have achieved local or national leadership positions in the NKBA.
-
Hank Darlington: A nationally recognized educator, writer, speaker and industry consultant, Darlington is the former owner of the Sacramento, CA-based The Plumbery, which served as a model for the decorative plumbing and hardware showrooms that have since become an important part of the industry. Darlington has served on a number of NKBA committees, and has been an NKBA professional instructor for more than a decade.
"These four individuals are highly deserving of this honor," said K&BDN publisher Eliot Sefrin, a member of the Hall of Fame nominating committee for the past three years.
"All have left an important and lasting mark on an industry that they have served extremely well," Sefrin added.
Each Hall of Fame inductee received a plaque to acknowledge their induction. Plaques will also be added to the Hall of Fame Gallery at the NKBA's headquarters in Hackettstown, NJ.
