Appliance Trade Groups Merge

Washington, DC The membership of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) and the Vacuum Cleaner Manufacturers Association (VCMA) have merged, with the VCMA assimilated into AHAM's Floor Care Division, the trade associations announced.

The merger, effective at the end of 2003, "follows increased interest shown over the past several years by VCMA members in the services offered by AHAM, the primary trade association of the home appliance industry," the Washington, DC-based AHAM observed.

"The merger makes good sense for members of both associations since they will be able to better leverage the breadth of the appliance manufacturing industry," said AHAM president Joseph McGuire.
