BEMA Announces Award Winners
Topeka, KS The Bath Enclosure Manufacturers Association (BEMA), a non-profit association dedicated to the promotion of bath enclosures, has named the winners of its Seventh Annual Design Awards Competition, the association has announced.
Honored for the "Glass Under 3/8"" and "Glass 3/8" and Over" categories, respectively, John Veras, president of Wyckoff, NJ-based Duschqueen, Inc. and Paul Snyder, president of Miami, FL-based Architectural Glass Arts, Inc, Truly Frameless®, both received top honors.
In the "Glass Under 3/8"" category, Veras provided an installation made up of bent, tempered 1/4" glass as well as bent solid brass, nickel-plated extrusions.
Architectural Glass Arts, Inc. Truly Frameless is the first-ever repeat winner in the competition, the association pointed out. Snyder received the "Installation Over $1,500" award last year. The pair was honored at BEMA's Annual Membership Meeting, held in Atlanta, GA, in conjunction with GlassBuild America.
A three-member panel of industry and consumer magazine editors judged the 47 entries, with entries being recognized for exceptional bathroom design that uses a shower or tub enclosure in place of a shower curtain.
BEMA president Bill Furr of Jacksonville, FL-based Coastal Industries, Inc. added that the categories changed for this competition.
"The BEMA Design Awards categories changed to emphasize glass thickness instead of the cost of the enclosure. This change in categories reflects trends in the industry. Today's enclosures express individual homeowner's lifestyles with their many designs, sizes and colors," he offered.
