Achey, Bark Elected to NKBA Hall of Fame

Hackettstown, NJ John Achey, a noted cabinet maker, and Judith Mary Bark, CKD-NZ, have been elected into the National Kitchen & Bath Association's "Hall of Fame" for their lifelong contributions to the kitchen and bath industry.

The pair will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame during ceremonies at this month's K/BIS in Orlando, the NKBA said.
Their election was approved by the NKBA leaders after recommendations from a nominating commitee that included Kitchen & Bath Design News publisher Eliot Sefrin.

Achey, who died last year, founded the Schaefferstown, PA-based Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry more than 30 years ago. Over the course of his career, he developed countless cabinet innovations, from storage options to interior fittings, while experimenting with new materials and finishes. He was also one of the first manufacturers to produce custom cabinets that were affordable to most homeowners.

Bark has made significant contributions to the kitchen and bath industry in New Zealand for more than 20 years. She was involved in founding a New Zealand division of NKBA in 1982. A frequent industry speaker, she organized the Certified Designers Society of New Zealand, and adapted NKBA's technical manuals to that country.

The Hall of Fame was founded in 1989. There are now 66 members.
