Solid Surface 2003, Annual ISSFA Show, Set for Vegas

Las Vegas Solid Surface 2003, the annual trade show and educational conference sponsored by the International Solid Surface Fabricators Association (ISSFA), is scheduled to open a three-day run here in February, show organizers announced.

According to the Henderson, NV-based ISSFA, Solid Surface 2003 will take place Feb. 17 to 19 at the newly opened convention facility at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The trade show itself will take place Feb. 18 and Feb. 19 in six pavilions totaling some 160,000 sq. ft. of space within the convention center, according to ISSFA officials. Show hours on both days will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Included will be displays of the latest products and services aimed at solid surface fabricators most of whom have their primary business ties in the kitchen and bath market. Aside from solid surface products, exhibits will include engineered stone, machinery, tools and related offerings, notes the show sponsor.

In addition, a special 48,000-sq.-ft. Fabricator Pavilion a designated area on the show floor will  feature live, hands-on product demonstrations, says ISSFA.

The Solid Surface 2003 conference program which runs from Feb. 17 through Feb. 19 will include tracks on solid surface fabrication techniques, topics on engineered stone and sessions on business management, sales and marketing.

Among them are seminars on topics as diverse as showroom design, branding your business and "lean" manufacturing.
Special two-day courses at ISSFA's nearby Training & Education Center (ITEC) will be offered after the show, on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. Topics for those courses include How to Manage Shop Employees, Solid Surface Repair

Techniques and The Business Break-Even Point. Another session addresses how fabricators can learn to manufacture their own solid surface sheets.

A keynote address scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17 at 10:15 a.m. will feature former Kitchen & Bath Design News columnist and NKBA director of education Robert Oxley. He will offer a series of motivational tips for increasing sales and personal success.

The three-day Solid Surface 2003 gathering will also feature the following special events:

  • Welcome Reception: Sunday, 2/16, 7 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • General Session: Monday, 2/17, 8 a.m.-10 a.m.
  • Awards Banquet: Tuesday, 2/18, 7:30 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • Aloha Reception: Wednesday, 2/19, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
