ISSFA, ICPA Set First Joint Meeting

Lake Buena Vista, FL The first-ever meeting of the members of the International Solid Surface Fabricators Association (ISSFA) and the International Cast Polymer Association (ICPA) is scheduled to take place this month, the two
industry-related trade associations announced.

ISSFA and ICPA members will meet in a joint event Nov. 14-16 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort here, association leaders indicated.

The two trade groups, which share a common interest and common goals through their link to solid surface materials, have been somewhat at odds in recent years over the issue of standards for the definition and performance of solid surface materials.

ISSFA, headquartered in Henderson, NV, is made up primarily of solid surface fabricators; the Arlington, VA-based ICPA, formerly known as the Cultured Marble Institute, represents suppliers of countertop surfacing materials, which includes cultured marble, onyx and solid surface materials, among others.

The meeting this month is seen as an effort by association leaders to explore mutual interests and bridge the gap that has existed between the two organizations in the past.

The event will kick off on Nov. 14 with a welcome reception, and will include a series of presentations and networking activities, according to ICPA and ISSFA officials. Also included during the three-day meeting will be a trip to solid surface supplier Gruber Systems, in Rockledge, FL, where demonstrations will be held on fabrication and field repair techniques, the associations added.
