Milwaukee U-Line Corp., the manufacturer of built-in undercounter ice-making and refrigeration appliances, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2002, the company announced.
U-Line, headquartered here, was founded in 1962. Its roots, however, can be traced back to the 1930s, when Herman Uihlein designed and produced the first farm and home chest freezer in the U.S. Eventually, Herman's son, Henry, initiated full-scale production of chest and upright freezers, and a wide range of additional products were developed as the company evolved over the years.
The company has remained family-owned and operated, with Henry Uihlein's three sons and two grandaughters currently overseeing U-Line's operations.
Phil Uihlein is the company's president, Henry Uihlein Jr. is v.p. and director of sales, and Richard Uihlein is v.p. Jennifer Uihlein Straszewski serves as v.p. and director of marketing, while Marnie Uihlein is junior marketing director, according to the company..
