Cygnus Unit Aiding Charity For New York Firefighters

College Park, MD Cygnus Business Media, the parent company of Kitchen & Bath Design News and approximately 50 other business-to-business magazines, is assisting in fundraising efforts on behalf of the families of the firefighters and emergency medical personnel who perished in the terrorist attack that destroyed the World Trade Center Sept. 11

Cygnus, which is headquartered in Melville, NY, said that three of its business units Firehouse Magazine, Firehouse.com and Firehouse Expos have entered into a partnership with the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) in a major fundraising effort that will see 100% of the funds donated going directly to help support the many children, spouses and family members affected by the loss of the firefighters and EMS workers. Hundreds of New York City firefighters, police and emergency workers were among the missing, and presumed dead, after the jetliner attack by terrorists.

The New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund will be administered by the IAFF, working with union Locals 94 and 854 in New York, Cygnus officials announced. All donations to the charitable effort are tax deductible.

"Our heroes in New York and their families will need a tremendous amount of support, and this is one way citizens and emergency responders alike around the world will be able to help," said Paul Andrews, vice president of e-commerce at Firehouse .com, a leading Web site for firefighters.

Donations may be sent to The New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund by check or money order in care of Firehouse.com, 9658 Baltimore Ave., Suite 350, College Park, MD 20740.
