SANIJET Severs Ties to Traditional Distribution

Coppell, TX In a move aimed "at ensuring consumer awareness" of the features of its pipeless whirlpool baths, SANIJET Corp. will no longer sell those products through dealers and distributors that also sell piped whirlpool and air tub systems manufactured by competitors, the company announced.

SANIJET, which is based in this Dallas suburb, announced in mid-April that it is moving away from traditional kitchen and bath showrooms, and is "taking its message directly to consumers and the trades."

"From the moment we began preparing for launch, we set out to provide the public with a cleaner, safer whirlpool system by relying on traditional plumbing channels to educate consumers about the sanitation issues associated with competing system technologies," said v.p./sales and marketing Philip Klement. "Those channels, however, have not, as a whole, seemed willing to fully discuss cleaning and sanitation issues with their customers."

SANIJET, which unveiled its pipeless whirlpool bath technology one year ago, has had its products carried by a nationwide network of plumbing distributors, decorative showrooms and others in the kitchen/bath industry. However, the company soon found itself facing a "dilemma" that resulted from showroom sales personnel being "uncomfortable" in discussing the merits of SANIJET's product line "as long as they continue to display and sell piped air tub systems," Klement said.
