Hackettstown, NJ Member-ship in the National Kitchen & Bath Assocation rose by "a very healthy" 7.7% in 2000, to just over 8,000 members, the association reported.

The membership growth, noted in the NKBA's recently published annual report, saw the sharpest increase in the multi-branch retailer category, which rose 24%, to 1,313 members, the Hackettstown, NJ-based trade association said.

Subscriber members grew by 19% (to 144 members), cabinet shops by 16% (to 119 members) and associates by 12% (to 611). Totals among dealers (1,774), fabricators (92), manufacturers (354) and manufacturer's reps (95) remained virtually unchanged, while membership among distributors (346) and decorative plumbing and hardware (127) categories were down 5%, the NKBA reported.

The NKBA also noted a "significant" 100% gain in membership among students, largely due to growth in the Endorsed College program.
