Broan Expands Headquarters, Changes Name
The expansion and remodeling project, which will add and renovate nearly 50,000 sq. ft. of space at the company's headquarters, will bring the total space at the Hartford facility to some 500,000 sq. ft., according to Broan-NuTone officials. The project was necessitated, they said, as a result of the number of corporate acquisitions in the past five years.
Founded in Milwaukee in 1932, Broan began a series of acquisitions in 1995, focusing beyond North America to the European and other international markets. The acquisition and integration of the Cincinnati-based NuTone Inc., in 1998, made the Broan Group of companies the largest ventilation company in the world.
The company currently manufactures, assembles and distributes kitchen range hoods, bathroom exhaust fans, bath cabinets, built-in heaters, trash compactors, ceiling fans, intercoms, speakers, central vacs, ironing centers and other products. Broan-NuTone also manufactures private-label products for Sears, Whirlpool Corp., GE and other companies.
