Amazon.com Sponsors Internet Home Building Project

Seattle, WA Leading online retailer Amazon.com will be a title sponsor for the first Internet-driven home building project, iShow.com and JLC LIVE Construction Training Shows announced recently. In sponsoring the project dubbed dotCOM dreamHOME Amazon.com will be the exclusive tools and equipment provider throughout each phase of the home's 18-month
construction.

The dotCOM dreamHOME venture was conceived specifically to show how a home can be constructed using the internet as its only tool.

E-commerce will be used for all aspects of the undertaking, from real estate shopping and construction management, to furnishing and the final selling of the home.

"E-commerce is playing an increasingly important role in the building industry, and Amazon.com brings both leadership and innovation to the important tools and hardware segment," comments Paul Barnett, CEO of iShow.com.

Craig Savage, v.p., JLC LIVE, stresses that "time is money in the construction business, so who better to demonstrate how the Internet can streamline construction and save time and money in the process than the most customer-centric online retailer in the world, Amazon.com."

Amazon.com added a Tools and Hardware store to its site in November 1999, and it has already received widespread acclaim from industry analysts. The site features an ever-growing range of popular and hard-to-find tools, hardware and brands, as well as detailed buying guides, project how-to's and expert product reviews.

"Our customers appreciate the fact that Amazon.com has the tools for any application, as well as fast and reliable delivery to their job sites and homes," reports Eric Broussard, general manager of Amazon.com's Tools and Hardware store.

Construction of the dotCOM dreamHOME is scheduled to begin in September in Las Vegas, NV. Live and on-demand web casting of the project will be available for viewing online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
