Cal Door Expands Plant

Gilroy, CA Cal Door, a major manufacturer of high-end cabinet components, has purchased a new 180,000-sq.-ft. factory in Salinas, CA, the company announced.

Cal Door, whose headquarters are located here, said that the new $20-million facility will be dedicated to the production of high-end custom doors and moldings, with an emphasis on mitered and applied molding-style doors.

Door and molding production in the new factory will begin in the first quarter of 2001 with the manufacturing of a high-end line of assembled pre-finished dovetail drawer boxes scheduled for the second quarter, the company added. By the fourth quarter of next year, the new campus-style plant will be totally operational, with the introduction of a line of pre-finished wood components.

Cal Door also announced the recent expansion of its sales and marketing division through the signing of an exclusive agreement with Rugby IPD, Inc. Division of Southern California. This adds seven new salesmen and two distribution offices to Cal Door's previous sales team of eight, expanding the Los Angeles and surrounding area, the company said.
