SEN Creates Alliance With Flooring Group
Chapel Hill, NC The SEN Buying Group has established its first strategic alliance with an industry-related organization, joining efforts with a floor coverings buying group, SEN announced.
According to SEN president Kenneth Peterson, CKD, the Chapel Hill-based SEN has formed an alliance with the Chattanooga, TN-based Kitchen & Bath Plus, a multi-divisional floor covering buying group for independent retailers with more than 1,200 members. Kitchen & Bath Plus posted sales of $1.2 billion in 1999, Peterson said.
The alliance, said Peterson, will enable SEN members to purchase ceramic tile, laminate and wood flooring, and sheet vinyl through their local distributors at national pricing that is 10-15% lower than usual.
More than a dozen flooring brands are part of the program, including Florida Tile, DalTile, Laufen, Mannington, Bruce, Anderson, Award, Harris-Tarkett, Kahrs and Congoleum.
The new alliance, introduced at SEN's recent Spring Conference in Fort Worth, TX, also offers SEN members rebates, as well as discounts on flooring display racks, Peterson said, noting that the alliance will introduce Kitchen & Bath Plus members to SEN's "broad line of vendors."
"This is a win-win business deal for both organizations," said Peterson, adding that SEN currently has 200 members and 60 vendors.
