Joint Venture Established by Formica, Schock
Warren, NJ Formica Corp. and the major German manufacturer Schock Holding GmbH have established a joint-venture company that will market Schock-brand solid surface products and technology to the U.S. kitchen/bath and surfacing materials industries, the two companies announced.
Announcement of the joint venture was made in February by Formica Corp. and Schock officials, who said the new company, INOVA Joint Venture, will be based at the Formica Corp. Solid Surfacing headquarters in Odenton, MD.
"We are excited about our new business relationship with Schock," said Jean-Pierre Clement, president of Solid Surfacing for Formica Corp.
Formica Corp., the laminate manufacturer whose headquarters are located here and in Cincinnati, currently produces the Surell line of solid surfacing material, as well as the Fountainhead line formerly owned by Nevamar.
Schock's extensive product line includes "Cristalite," an engineered compound consisting largely of quartz and used in the production of countertops and kitchen and bar sinks. The privately-held company also manufactures kitchen faucets, "Acrylux" edge moldings, and accessories such as sink and waste disposer strainers.
