Atlanta, L.A. Added to K&BDN Seminar Series

Hackensack, NJ Dates and specific locations for Atlanta and Los Angeles have been added to the schedule for the five-part series of "Managing for Profit" business management seminars being sponsored in 2000 by Kitchen & Bath Design News and the National Kitchen & Bath Association.

K&BDN also announced that Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry, the Schaefferstown, PA-based cabinet manufacturer, has become the first corporate co-sponsor in 2000 for the innovative seminar series. It is anticipated that other leading industry corporations will lend their support to the program.

All-day "Managing for Profit" seminars developed by K&BDN and the NKBA, and underwritten in part by corporate sponsors have been scheduled for the Atlanta metropolitan area on Sept. 14 and for the Los Angeles metropolitan area on Oct. 26.

The Atlanta seminar will take place at the Marriott Northeast Atlanta, 246 Perimeter Center Parkway NE, Atlanta, with Plain & Fancy as a co-sponsor. The Los Angeles-area session will take place at The Westin South Coast Plaza, 686 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa, CA.

Other dates for the program are as follows:

  • Chicago (as part of the National Kitchen & Bath Conference), April 6.
  • New York Metro Area, May 18, at the Sheraton Crossroads Hotel, 1 International Blvd., Mahwah, NJ (with Plain & Fancy as a co-sponsor).
  • Detroit Metro Area, June 15, at the Crowne Plaza Detroit Metro Airport, 8000 Merriman Road, Romulus, MI, (with Plain & Fancy as a co-sponsor).

The "Managing for Profit" program, unique to the kitchen and bath industry, made its debut in 1999 with a pair of enthusiastically-received sessions in Boston and San Francisco.

Two leading business management educators Hank Darlington and Stephen Vlachos, CKD, CBD have been retained once again in 2000 to facilitate the unique, one-day seminar, which is targeted primarily at the owners of kitchen and bath dealerships and remodeling firms.

The seminar is aimed at delivering practical, in-depth strategies regarding finances, profit margins, customer service, personnel, administration and other aspects of business management at the retail level, all within the context of a rapidly-changing and increasingly competitive kitchen and bath industry.

NKBA members can register for the seminars for $100; non-members pay $175; sponsors' customers and guests are admitted on a complimentary basis. "Managing for Profit" also qualifies attendees for ongoing professional development credits (OPD) and continuing educational units (CEU), the NKBA noted.
