Republic Buys Legacy Cabinets

Marshall, TX H.I.G. Capital, L.L.C., a Miami-based capital group and financial partner of Republic Industries, Inc., has added Legacy Cabinets, L.L.C. to the Republic National Cabinet Group, the company announced.

The addition of the Talladega, AL-based Legacy Cabinets, which comes on the heels of the acquisition earlier this year of 32mm manufacturer Sunshine Kitchens, brings the group's combined annual sales volume to more than $115 million, according to corporate officials.
Additional cabinet company acquisitions are planned as part of a growth strategy aimed at diversification of inventories, price levels and end-user markets, said Sami Mnaymneh, managing director of H.I.G. Capital, L.L.C, and Gene Ponder, president of Republic Industries, headquartered here.

Legacy Cabinets, founded in 1994, produces wood cabinetry that is sold primarily through dealers and distributors in the eastern U.S.

The company's founders and management, including president Rodney Suggs, will remain with the company, said Ponder, adding that Republic intends for each entity to retain its own identity.
