Kirkby Named Associate Publisher

Hackensack, NJ - Chris Kirkby has been named associate publisher of Kitchen & Bath Design News, assuming the new title in addition to his role as national ad sales director.

Kirkby, who is based out of K&BDN's offices in Hackensack, NJ, will continue to lead the advertising sales staff while retaining his territorial sales responsibilities in portions of the East and Midwest, K&BDN publisher Eliot Sefrin announced.

"Chris has been as responsible as anyone for K&BDN's steady advertising sales growth over the past five years," Sefrin said. "Under his leadership, the ad sales staff has helped make K&BDN the number-one market-share magazine for ad pages in the industry, and helped establish our current position as the most widely-read and relied-upon magazine in the trade. I'm certain we'll continue to maintain that positive momentum with Chris as associate publisher."

Kirkby, who had previously been associated in an ad sales capacity with K&BDN, rejoined the magazine as national ad sales director in November of 1993.
At that time, K&BDN had witnessed several years of ad sales declines and an erosion in its market share to less than 30%. In contrast, as 1999 began, K&BDNs market share stood at more than 50%.

"Chris has worked diligently to help K&BDN grow," Sefrin said.. "I think it's only appropriate that he be recognized for his contributions, and that his title more accurately reflect his wide range of day-to-day responsibilities on the magazine."
