NKBA, NEX To Continue Talks On Show Merger

Hackettstown, NJ - Represen-tatives of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) will continue their negotiations with the three sponsors of the NEX plumbing products show over the possible consolidation of the Kitchen/ Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) and the NEX trade shows, both parties announced.

The NKBA said in late-November that it would continue discussions regarding a possible K/BIS-NEX consolidation with representatives of the three sponsoring groups of the NEX show. The NEX sponsors include the American Supply Association, the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating, and the National Association of Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors, Inc.

The three trade groups are closely tied to the U.S. and Canadian plumbing products industry.

Representatives of the two trade shows met in Chicago in November to discuss a possible joint venture for the two trade shows, according to the Hackettstown, NJ-based NKBA. Another meeting is slated prior to the end of this month, the association added.

The NKBA, which owns the annual K/BIS, has been facing increasing pressure from some industry manufacturers to move the show to an every-other-year format. The merger or co-location with the biennial NEX event has been backed by some exhibitors as a possible option for the K/BIS.
