NAHBR, NARI Celebrate National Remodeling Month

May is National Remodeling Month and each week ForResidentialPros.com is spotlighting a different topic within remodeling in honor of this month’s focus. This week we turn to associations and how they are recognizing NRM and the industry.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry offers its members a collection of tools to help them promote remodeling. “[These include] press releases they can customize, a visual icon they can use in their e-newsletters or social media pages. These can be found at www.nari.org/homeimprovementmonth,” says Nikki Golden, marketing and communications manager, NARI.

The National Association of Home Builders Remodelers launched its annual campaign this month that focuses on the benefits of hiring a professional remodeler, says Therese Crahan, executive director, NAHBR. “Local home builders associations and their remodelers’ councils join the campaign at the local and state level, raising consumer awareness of professional remodelers and their commitment to the highest industry standards,” she says.

Both NARI and NAHBR are using social media to celebrate and promote remodeling. “We are posting our press releases and other factoids about remodeling throughout the month on our Facebook page and Twitter account. We’re using the hashtag #HIM2012,” Golden says. NAHBR is also on Twitter and Facebook.

Remodelers should take advantage of NRM to show their leadership in the industry, Crahan says. “It’s also a great time to remind past customers about the services and expertise their company offers if they are thinking of another remodeling project,” she says.

“NARI is committed to educating consumers about the importance of hiring a professional to complete their remodeling or home improvement project,” Golden says. “Having a month devoted to Home Improvement awareness dovetails with that goal and helps the entire remodeling industry educate homeowners on how to ensure a successful remodeling project.”
