PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The client desired an elegant, luxurious gathering and entertainment space with dramatic 25-ft. ceilings. The room needed views of the property’s 30 acres of rolling hills, a pond, fountain and extensive gardens through floor-to-ceiling windows as well as from the second floor. This was to be a dream room with French architectural accents and intricate custom carved-wood mouldings, plaster and hand-forged custom wrought iron. Finding artisans and suppliers to customize the architectural details was a challenge. The room was envisioned as a ballroom in the style of Louis XIV, inspired by 17th century décor of the “Queens Guard Room” of the Royal Palace of Versailles. Two oversized chandeliers hang off Palmetto plaster medallions from a 25-ft. vaulted Venetian polished plaster ceiling with gold leaf accents and 24 radius-clipped floral Acanthus scroll corners. Hand hewn 18-ft. wood Corinthian fluted columns emphasize the room’s French doors and window casings that open onto a 40-ft. balcony.
