Signature Interiors, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Signature Interiors was charged with maintaining a kosher kitchen with three separate work spaces, including prep and storage. Multiple appliances were required to service the work areas, which challenged the remodelers to create adequate storage while avoiding the appearance of too many appliances. To conserve space, base cabinet storage was built in front of radiators so venting occurs on the countertop and in the toe kick. Appliance panels were utilized to integrate and hide appliances. A combination of clean lines, textures and colors lend themselves to a warm, modern space with traditional values.
Keystone Building and Design, Nixa, Mo.
The clients built their home in 2001 and because of limitations to the budget, their kitchen was cluttered and uninviting. To make the space feel larger, Keystone Building and Design chose space tile to broaden the floor into the dining area. Decorative beams were added to the ceiling to make the two spaces feel like one. The existing oak flooring was replaced with a rich 5-inch mahogany that also defines the perimeter around the tile and cabinetry. Custom cherry cabinets feature specialty storage to meet specific uses. The clients now have a kitchen that meets their initial expectations for their home.
Jackson Design and Remodeling, San Diego
The new kitchen embodies the clients’ desire for a space filled with light and life. Appliances are flush with the custom bamboo cabinetry, creating a clean, open and balanced space. An organically shaped custom-designed light fixture makes a dramatic statement in the center of the room. The work area is streamlined and clutter-free, allowing for efficient prep, cooking and cleanup. Every detail of the kitchen was designed to give expression to the clients’ love for fine art and beautiful objects.
Custom Design and Construction, El Segundo, Calif.
This design/build project helps a large Italian family host traditional dinners and entertain guests. It was important for them to have a traditional kitchen but with all the conveniences of a modern space. Opening up the layout and adding a large center island gives the homeowners an atmosphere ideal for hosting dinner parties with family and friends.
