The difference between a master bedroom and master suite is most often determined by the design and amenities of the connecting bathroom and closet. In this case, a 36-square-foot bathroom with hardly any room to turn around did not meet the homeowner’s expectations. A nearby utility easement complicated the project and resulted in an addition of 115 square feet with six corners, a plan the client loved. To give the bathroom a modern European flair, none of the elements touch the floor. Maple cabinets give a horizontal-stepped impression to match the geometry of the outside walls and have the appearance of floating in the room.
