In mid-July as Chicago schools were set to open in a few weeks, Mike Nagel from remodeling firm MAW Chicago was doing his best to finish the whole-house remodel and get his clients moved in before the first day of school. Time will tell if it works out this way, but with all the change orders and government delays, it's a miracle the deadline is even within sight.
Drywall is up, trim is going on and flooring is about to be laid on the day Qualified Remodeler visited the construction site for an update. The layout is taking shape and things are looking good. Dehimidifiers and fans hummed loudly in an attempt to lower the moisture level in the flooring mixture that contains hydronic radiant tubing throughout the home. They'd get to the level they needed soon enough, Nagel told QR.
Next steps include finishing the drywall, flooring and staircases, as well as tiling the bathrooms. The largest component remaining to be completed is the kitchen. The team at de Giulio Kitchen Design is scheduled to be on site in late August and to finish the kitchen before September comes to an end. Qualified Remodeler will be on site to provide an update on kitchen progress and to interview the designer from the de Giulio team.
