The project's name is "Miwa" which means "beautiful harmony and peace" in Japanese. This Japanese inspiration led to the design of a water walkway leading to the home's entrance that is meant to cleanse the spirit before entering the home. The challenge was to create a pathway for the water walkway that complimented the modern style of the home. The other challenge was to carry the theme throughout the project. Floating steps with clean lines and natural materials were created to be consistent with the design language of the house. The steps begin at the street leading to the home. Large glass doors open to the water walkway. The water walkway leads you into the home. The back yard features a floating walkway mimicking the home's entrance. This walkway carries you through a garden to the home's guest house. The "WOW" factor of the back yard 's walkway IS the LED lighting under the floating steps which is complimented with groupings of garden lanterns and colorful tree lights.
