Apartment bathroom gets more space

The original bath was 6 by 6 1/2 feet. To open the space, the contractor removed a shallow linen closet and another closet in the master bedroom to expand the bathroom and create space for a 4- by 4-ft. shower pan. The glass shower wall and large mirror in the bathroom give it a more open feeling. One of the goals of the remodel was to preserve the more than 100-year-old Romanesque revival mosaic floor. Because the apartment is in a high-rise residential building, the team had to use existing plumbing and waste lines, which necessitated fishing electrical lines from one side of the apartment to the other.
