Jeweled powder room

The original powder room was dark and uninspiring. The owners frequently entertained and wanted a new powder room to make a memorable impression while expressing their like for Asian design. A wall of tile in shades of ebony, gold and dark brown is illuminated by gold leaf lighting that is activated by a sensor when entering the room. A wall was built to conceal the venting system, which allowed for the addition of a free-standing vanity. A curved mirror with a rustic Asian-themed wood frame is the backdrop for an arced onyx sink with gold fixtures. Other elements include Shoji-style doors, natural stone floor and a bamboo linen closet in a small hallway directly outside the room.
