Empty nester clients had simple requirements: 3 bedrooms with en-suite baths, office, area for a piano, and indoor/outdoor living. They also wanted a "green" certified home. The challenge was reaching the highest level of green certification in the LEED for Homes program. A sustainable design and using green products including ICFs, expanding-foam insulation, two solar systems, high-efficiency heat pump, Low-e windows and doors, LED lighting, Energy Star-rated appliances, water-wise fixtures, artificial turf, ultra-violet air treatment system, low VOC paints and a whole home dehumidification system. The home earned a HERS score of 48 and its targeted LEEDH Platinum certification.
