Substantial, yet sensitive, transformation

Built in 1958, this 2,193-sq.-ft. historic home recently underwent a complete makeover where every space was restored, repaired or updated while maintaining the architect’s original intent. In the living room, a shag carpet over a stained concrete floor was removed so the floor could be restored. This necessitated removing tack strips and carpet glue, which took about four contractors. A suitable patching compound, colorant and new finish restored the concrete’s patina. The addition of a screened porch includes an inlaid triangular floor pattern, which matches the home’s established grid.
