Sandwich, MA — Woodworking is a creative outlet for custom cabinetmaker and kitchen designer Gail O’Rourke, and her natural creative talent is showcased in White Wood Kitchens, the newly opened kitchen cabinet showroom she owns and operates.
The showroom, situated along the historic Kings Highway in Sandwich, MA, is nestled among well-frequented antique shops, specialty design stores, floral and landscape retailers as well as many trendy restaurants and cafes on famed Cape Cod.
Approximately 800 square feet of the 2,200-sq.-ft. space is dedicated to the showroom, with the rest of the area used for offices and conference rooms. The display space features two kitchen vignettes, two island displays and a custom dining cabinetry display.
Among the cabinet companies represented are Woodharbor Custom Cabinetry, Fieldstone Cabinetry and Diamond Cabinetry. A large selection of granite and marble is also showcased, along with countertop offerings from Silestone and Cambria.
Tile selection boards, countertop displays, cabinet door and finish selection centers as well as cabinet hardware samples coexist with the vignettes. Each display showcases a different manufacturer and different finish.
O’Rourke notes that one of the benefits to the showroom being newly designed is that the latest and greatest trends are displayed. For example, Suede Silestone countertops – new to the market in late 2013 – as well as hot cabinet colors, such as slate stain with ebony glaze, are showcased.
Service and Design
White Wood Kitchens offers full-service kitchen design and project management services for high-end residential construction projects. With over 10 years of experience in design and cabinetmaking and a natural passion for woodworking, O’Rourke works on projects from concept to completion.
The firm supports projects as small as adding a tile backsplash to large projects such as a full kitchen remodel and whole-house cabinetry for new construction. She believes in working closely with customers to create a space that reflects their style – “as if they created the space themselves.”
Concierge services guarantee clients are informed of progress and understand procedures in order to help them enjoy the construction process. O’Rourke works with each client, encouraging their input, in order to successfully create a product that expresses their style and complements their space with elegance and function.
“I love working with my clients, taking their vision and executing a plan to create their dream kitchen,” explains O’Rourke. “I like facing the challenges each project brings – meeting the client’s needs and providing a fabulous product. I love the ability to work hand-in-hand with my clients, their builders and architects, and provide them with incredible cabinets as an end result.”
O’Rourke has also taken her passion to the community. She sits on the Board of Directors of The Room to Dream Foundation, a Boston-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create healing environments for children facing chronic illnesses. She is extremely hands on with RTD projects, managing projects and providing her knowledge, skill and love of woodworking.
