  • Snoop around this big project for Remodeling Month

By Rob Heselbarth - Monday May 20, 2013
Work has resumed on MAW Chicago’s whole-home renovation project in Chicago after several weeks of standstill caused by the city’s historic preservation department proceedings. After five weeks of delays, MAW Chicago in Palatine, Ill., lost no time getting work started again and catching up on lost time.   In April 2013 when Qualified Remodeler visited the project, the entire interior had been gutted and framed from scratch. Only a small wood panel ceiling in the basement remains of the original interior. The gutting reflects a change of mind by the homeowners, who chose to move forward in a new direction since QR’s most recent visit. MAW Chicago partner Mike Nagel says the plans have changed many times already, which is par for...
  • Throw a Month-long Party for National Remodeling Month

By Kacey Larsen - Friday May 3, 2013
This is my first time celebrating National Remodeling Month (you’ll have to imagine me blowing a noise maker).  And while I wish I have a really insightful answer to the question of how to celebrate, I’m instead going to defer to the industry associations, who have thrown many more National Remodeling Month parties than I have. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) each have promoted a variety of tips that will help you and your business spread the word. I’ve picked out a few of my favorite tips to include here for your consideration. Embrace both the new and the old: Social media can help you and your business reach a whole new audience, while yard signs...

  • Indoor Pool Daydreams

By Kacey Larsen - Tuesday April 2, 2013
As I look out the window here in Wisconsin and still see snow, it’s easy to get caught up in daydreams of lying somewhere warm, poolside with a drink in hand. Since outdoor pools are currently still buried under snow for most of us here in the Midwest, I’m transferring my daydreams to lying somewhere by an indoor pool with a drink in hand. I found some inspiration for my indoor pool daydreams, which I’ve posted on the ForResidentialPros Pinterest page for your viewing pleasure and can be found here . The inspiration board features stunning pools that blend the characteristics and style of the home with often family-friendly nature of indoor pools. The extra details, like mosaics, lighting and murals on the walls or ceilings...
  • Big News at the Big Show

By Andrea Girolamo - Tuesday January 22, 2013
So, the 2013 edition of the International Builders Show is barely two hours old and already we've probably got the biggest nuggest of information that the National Association of Home Builders could drop: in 2014, the NAHB and the National Kitchen & Bath Association have entered into an agreement to join the International Builders Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, back here in Las Vegas. The details, straight from the press release: The new mega-event will be held Feb. 4-6, 2014 in Las Vegas, with each show occupying a separate hall. Kitchen and bath brands that have participated in both shows can choose to exhibit in the KBIS or IBS hall. One pass will provide access to both exhibits. NKBA and NAHB will continue to produce...
