Playing with Tools
By Kacey Larsen - Thursday June 13, 2013
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Milwaukee Tool New Product Symposium 2013. For those interested, this was my first show of any kind since I joined the staff of Qualified Remodeler and ForResidentialPros.com, so I had no idea what to expect. While it was great to interact with other writers and the Milwaukee Tool staff on hand, the best part about the show was actually getting to do more than just see the products. We were all encouraged to help during demonstrations and given time to test the products after the presentations. So I have a quick synopsis of the products and launches later this year that I think will be handy for many of you. M18 Six Pack Sequential Charger - Available now. This charger holds up to... -
Community Service: You Deserve to Brag
By Kacey Larsen - Friday June 7, 2013
Most remodelers will tell you that they got into the business to help people or because they liked to see and bring about change. With these as motivators, it makes sense to me that so many of you or the companies that you work for are doing community service in your spare time. So we at QR want to give you chance to brag a little bit about those efforts and have it be recognized in one of our upcoming issues and/or on our site. Tell us about your personal causes, like giving back to the community, donating to charity, etc., and the challenges that might be faced as you make do your best to bring your goals to fruition. Please, nominate yourself, your company or even someone else, and let us do the bragging for you. Enter here... -
Never Too Late for More K/B Products
By Kacey Larsen - Thursday May 30, 2013
I know KBIS 2013 is already a thing of the past for most of you, especially as KBIS 2014 has already begun preparations, but we here at Qualified Remodeler are still talking about some of the products featured. So take a quick peek at a few of our favorites from the show. Cosentino: Suede Finish for Quartz Countertops , which gives natural quartz surface a softer appearance with little reflection and includes built-in antimicrobial protection. Danze: Mid-Town Bath Faucet Collection , which includes a single-handle faucet, a widespread faucet and tub/shower variations in either chrome or brushed nickel finishes. DuPont: 2013 Colors of Corian , which introduces nine new colors to the solid surface collection and all fall into... -
Snoop around this big project for Remodeling Month
By Rob Heselbarth - Monday May 20, 2013
Work has resumed on MAW Chicago’s whole-home renovation project in Chicago after several weeks of standstill caused by the city’s historic preservation department proceedings. After five weeks of delays, MAW Chicago in Palatine, Ill., lost no time getting work started again and catching up on lost time. In April 2013 when Qualified Remodeler visited the project, the entire interior had been gutted and framed from scratch. Only a small wood panel ceiling in the basement remains of the original interior. The gutting reflects a change of mind by the homeowners, who chose to move forward in a new direction since QR’s most recent visit. MAW Chicago partner Mike Nagel says the plans have changed many times already, which is par for... -
Throw a Month-long Party for National Remodeling Month
By Kacey Larsen - Friday May 3, 2013
This is my first time celebrating National Remodeling Month (you’ll have to imagine me blowing a noise maker). And while I wish I have a really insightful answer to the question of how to celebrate, I’m instead going to defer to the industry associations, who have thrown many more National Remodeling Month parties than I have. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) each have promoted a variety of tips that will help you and your business spread the word. I’ve picked out a few of my favorite tips to include here for your consideration. Embrace both the new and the old: Social media can help you and your business reach a whole new audience, while yard signs...
