A Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer and Professional Member of the American Society of Interior Designers, Cheever manages both a private residential design practice and a consulting firm that develops innovative products, designs memorable showrooms, and creates highly effective training programs for all segments of the industry. In 2009, she expanded her design expertise by meeting the requirements to be certified as an Aging In-Place Specialist.
Her residential design clients stretch from California to the East Coast. Cheever's private design work has been honored by the American Society of Interior Designers, the Sub-Zero Design Competition, the KWC Design Competition, and the National Kitchen & Bath Association Design Competition. In 2010, Ellen received a 1st Place award in the IDA (International Design Awards) Competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania East Chapter of ASID for a commercial retail kitchen/bath/millwork showroom she designed.
A respected trend analyst who regularly travels the world, Ellen is a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association Hall of Fame, and served on the management teams of several innovative and respected cabinet companies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics from California State University.
The prolific author first gained prominence in the industry when she wrote two textbooks considered the basis of design education: Beyond the Basics: Advanced Kitchen Design and The Basics of Bathroom Design and Beyond. She then served as the Director of Educational Services for the National Kitchen & Bath Association, where under her leadership the Kitchen and Bathroom Industry Technical Manuals were first published. Serving as a consultant to NKBA, she authored four new volumes for the Association’s Professional Research Library: “Kitchen & Bath Products”, “Design Principles”, “Kitchen & Bath Business Management” and “Installation Procedures & Project Management for Designers”.
Today, as a regular contributor to Kitchen & Bath Design News Magazine as a columnist and seminar leader and a much sought-after speaker at national and international industry events, Ellen continues to shape the face of the industry with her in-depth analysis of emerging design trends and winning business strategies.
