Savannah Hardscapes, a stone and furnishing company based in Hardeeville SC, recently enlisted the help of AWD of Savannah for creation, construction and installation of custom cabinetry for its new REVE Surfaces Showroom.
With a 2,000-sq.-ft. converted metal warehouse containing no natural light sources, some of the challenges were in creating a space inspired by the outdoor living aspects that dominate Savannah Hardscapes, as well as seamlessly incorporating the custom millworks of AWD that would provide storage for product samples and highlight a variety of seasonal displays.
For this project, AWD worked with interior designer Linn Gresham to create, build and install custom storage cabinetry for the showroom as well as a variety of bath and surface vignettes, workstations and a large central conference table.
Throughout the showroom there are unique uses of materials, such as wood paneling interlined with platinum mosaic in place of mirror glass. Wood is inlayed with Belgian Bluestone, walls are clad in stone moldings, glass panels are backlit, and there is an elegant tub sitting in front of a fireplace.
Housed in custom millwork casing by AWD of Savannah, designer-friendly sample boards align for grabbing. Paint grade wood is finished in a cool grey and semi-gloss lacquer. Four drawers of various depths garnish the bottom of the displays and provide closed storage for loose samples. Large stile and rail door front cabinets are also a cool grey and provide storage for designer catalogs. The cabinetry also has deep cove moldings, custom pullouts and 360 spinning turnstiles showing off various stone and tile samples. The woodwork extends towards and adorns a central stone fireplace that is accentuated with an antique silver mirror and iridescent glass mosaic tile. A darker tone of cool grey is used to add depth behind the spinning displays and is carried throughout the showroom.
Jonathan Rhangos, owner of Savannah Hardscapes says, “Our focus on global sourcing has allowed Savannah Hardscapes to offer a surfacing resource that is unparalleled. We needed cabinetry to showcase the product that was elegant and complemented our samples. It also needed to be constructed in a way to stand up to the weight. Harley and his team at AWD created cabinetry that met both criteria. Their eye to detail and quality construction contributed to our having a world class showroom in the heart of the low country.”
