MIA iPad Application Contains Data on Stones

Cleveland, OH — The Marble Institute of America has released a new iPad application that provides design and construction professionals with access to detailed information about natural stones quarried in North America.

According to the Cleveland, OH-based MIA, the association’s iPad app, “The Stones of North America,” is available for free download at the iTunes Store. The app has been produced by MIA with support from MAPEI, a leading supplier of adhesives and related products for the installation of stone and other floor and wall coverings.

The new app features marble, granite, and other stones from more than 70 quarries in North America, said the MIA, adding that goal in creating the app was “to give architects, builders, designers, homeowners and others shopping for natural stone an easy way to view and select stone” on the iPad.

The Stones of North America app displays stones in vivid color and offers an array of content aimed at stone selection and use, according to the MIA. Users can explore natural stones by type, color, intended use, location, and distance from a particular project. Technical specifications, physical properties, and details on recommended use are also offered, among other information
